By U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody has secured a significant endorsement from the business community as she seeks another term in Washington.
The Florida Chamber of Commerce is throwing its support behind Moody as she campaigns to win her first full term in the U.S. Senate. Moody was appointed to the seat last year by Gov. Ron DeSantis, following Marco Rubio’s departure to join the Trump administration as Secretary of State.
“The Florida Chamber of Commerce fully endorses Ashley Moody to continue championing Florida by serving as Florida’s United States Senator,” said Florida Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Mark Wilson.
“As Senator, Ashley has led from the front on cutting taxes, reducing burdensome regulations, and creating the kind of economic environment where Florida’s local businesses can thrive. Florida voters can count on Senator Moody to continue protecting Floridians against federal overreach in the United States Senate while advancing policies to further economic opportunity for all Floridians.”
Moody faces several Republican challengers in the Aug. 18 Primary — Chris Gleason, Neelam Taneja Perry, and Ernest “Ernie” Rivera — but none have mounted the kind of campaign likely to threaten her hold on the nomination.
Even with a clear advantage in the Primary, Moody is emphasizing the importance of the Florida Chamber’s endorsement.
“I am honored to have earned the endorsement of the Florida Chamber of Commerce,” Moody said in a news release.
“The Florida Chamber represents the businesses, job creators, and entrepreneurs who make Florida the envy of the nation – the men and women who wake up every day to chase the American Dream and build something extraordinary for their families and communities. Earning their support is a reflection of our shared commitment to keeping Florida’s economy strong and growing. I look forward to continuing our partnership to lower costs, create more high-paying jobs, and make sure Washington never gets in the way of Florida’s economic success.”
Moody brings a long resume to the race. She was elected Florida Attorney General in 2018, previously served as a federal prosecutor, and was an elected judge in Florida’s 13th Circuit Court.
On the Democratic side, Alex Vindman and state Rep. Angie Nixon are competing for their party’s nomination. The winner will face Moody in November, along with Non-Party Affiliation candidate Neil J. Gillespie, who has also qualified for the General Election ballot.
